Summary of the 2025 Adult Complex Thyroid/Parathyroid Surgery Focused Practice Designation (ACTPS FPD) Exam

The American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS) and the American Board of Surgery (ABS) successfully administered the first Adult Complex Thyroid/Parathyroid Surgery Focused Practice Designation Exam on April 7–9, 2025. A total of 217 candidates participated, including 108 ABOHNS diplomates and 109 ABS diplomates.

Of these candidates, 80% qualified through the Practice Pathway and 20% through the Training Pathway. The overall pass rate was 97%.

The 2026 ACTPS FPD Exam is scheduled for March 16–18. ABOHNS anticipates launching the application process in October 2025.
